Last week the first full trailer for Anchorman 2 was released. Everyone’s favorite news team enters the 80s intent on breaking into the world of 24-hour news. The movie looks really funny and, thankfully, not at all a rehash of the first one. It’s good to see McKay and company aren’t taking a nod from Todd Phillips and just going with what worked the first time around.
I’m excited and yet I still have my reservations. It’s a sequel to what I believe is one of the funniest comedies of the last decade. So there are massive expectations at play here. Even though this isn’t a cash-in sequel and enough time has passed for there to be a fresh take, it’s still got huge shoes to fill.
It blows my mind a little that this is being released in December. I assumed it would be released next summer. The sooner, the better, though. I can’t wait.
