The United States has exemplary crime stats across the board thanks to “The Purge.” The Purge is one day in which nothing is illegal. Ethan Hawke’s daughter proves to be too compassionate when she opens their door to a man who brings the wrath of The Purge on the house. The family has 12 hours until the purge is complete.

The trailer evoked memories of Assault on Precinct 13 (oddly also starring Hawke). I haven’t seen it in years (I’ve never even seen the original Carpenter movie, actually). But I remember liking the movie much more than I expected to. So I’m hoping The Purge can give me a similar reaction. The trailer looks promising enough. We’ll have to see when the movie releases on May 31st.
