A week before seeing A Good Day to Die Hard, I bought the Die Hard 25th Anniversary Collection on blu-ray. I was eager to rewatch the franchise before heading to the theater. So that’s exactly what I did. I watched all 5 Die Hard movies in a 24 hour span.
I’m a little late but here’s a breakdown of my movie watching habits for February. Total Viewings: 30 First Viewings: 15 Theater Viewings: 2
The James Bond 50th anniversary Bluray set is mine after a hastily spent $150 at Best Buy. Since I’ve only seen 7 of the 23 Bond movies, I find it a little hard to justify buying it. Nonetheless, I’m really happy I got it. My plan is to go through the set and watch them at my own pace. I […]

Here’s a quick rundown of my picks for tonight’s Oscars. I’m running a pool with my friends and I have it set up includes a point system. Each category gets their nominees ranked in reverse order. The top choice gets the most points in the category. The bottom choice gets a 1. Once all the awards are given, the points are tallied and the winner gets the money.
Thanks to The Walking Dead and American Horror Story, the horror genre is in the midst of its biggest television presence since Tales from the Crypt camped up the airwaves of the 1990s. Now A&E is trying to get in on the ground floor by taking a beloved character of the genre and enlisting network hit makers to create a […]

Last week I fulfilled a dream I’ve had since I watched 2001: A Space Odyssey for the first time on my family’s old 32-inch, component cabled tube TV over a decade ago. I finally saw the most visually breathtaking and hopelessly mind-bending film in a theater. Not only that, I saw it at one of the best theaters in Indianapolis.
I have a thing for themed movie selections. If I have an urge to watch one movie (and I have time for two), I’ll pick a second movie that’s somehow similar and host my own mini-marathon. That’s what I planned for Valentine’s Day 2013. The movies I picked for my Valentine’s Day double feature were two emotionally jarring indictments of […]
After cornering the home video rental market and all but slaying former rental juggernaut Blockbuster, it seems Netflix has now set its sights on the television industry. With the highly publicized release of House of Cards, the first original television series developed by Netflix, the king of on-demand streaming has introduced itself as an original content provider. And the ripples […]
My first Trailer Tuesday is Olympus Has Fallen. Gerard Butler as a secret service agent going full “McClane” following an attack on the White House. In theaters March 22nd.
Hello. I’m the Obsessive Viewer. Welcome. I decided to start this blog because more and more people are embracing an addiction to screens and with far more viewing options than we’ve ever had before, it’s really easy to get a fix. We’re living in a time where the entertainment industry is competing with rapidly evolving technology to deliver content as conveniently as possible. People are watching Boardwalk Empire on tablets on the commute to work. They’re watching The Avengers while jogging on the treadmill and streaming Netflix on their lunch break. We are no longer shackled by arbitrary schedules and show times. And the amount of content at our fingertips is extraordinarily overwhelming. So allow me to use this blog […]
