Movie Review: The Collection (2012)
I really dropped the ball this weekend. I intended to write and post this as a Streaming Saturday but I ran out of time. Then on Sunday I wanted to write it but only after I posted my review of its predecessor, The Collector. I thought I could squeeze in my weekly TV write up first, but that ended up […]
The Week in TV: Sept. 29th – Oct. 5th, 2013
Here’s this week’s installment of “The Obsessive Viewer’s Week in TV!” This week was a little light, compared to last week at least. A lot of that is due to the kick off of Shocktober and various other things. Still, I managed to watch the series finale of Breaking Bad, Family Guy’s season premiere and start a rewatch of Game […]
Movie Review: The Collector (2009)
Buy it on Amazon! The Collector is a movie that I have been meaning to watch for a while. I was really intrigued by the concept of the protagonist being a man breaking into a house, only to have to save the family from a sadistic killer. I was hopeful that it would lead to a bit more actual storytelling […]

Mike’s Shocktober Journal – Day 1 (10/01/13): The Exorcism of Emily Rose [Obsessive Friends: Mike]
OBSESSIVE NOTE: Mike is the biggest Horror movie fan I know. His approach to Shocktober this year is more laid back than it has been in years passed. It should be, considering he’s getting married next weekend. Despite his extremely busy schedule, he has agreed to share his Shocktober 2013 experience with all of us. Here is the first installment […]
Tiny’s Shocktober Musings – Part I [Obsessive Friends: Tiny]
OBSESSIVE NOTE: In honor of Shocktober here on the blog, I asked my friends and podcast co-hosts to write about their experiences with this sacred tradition. Tiny’s approach was to collect his thoughts on the movies he watches this month and release them in groups. Here is the first installment of Tiny’s Shocktober Musings. – Matt (The Obsessive Viewer)
Movie Review: The Strangers (2008)
Throughout Shocktober, I plan on writing about a ton of different movies. Some of them I watch every year and some will be first viewings. To kick off Shocktober, I chose something familiar. A staple of the Shocktober holiday for me. The Strangers… Buy it on Amazon!
A Short Introduction to Shocktober on ObsessiveViewer.com
Welcome to The Obsessive Viewer’s first Shocktober. This month on the blog, I (with some help from my friends) will put a large emphasis on the horror genre. This is a tradition that has been a big part of my life since 2006, when I started dedicating the month to horror. Since then, each year the month has grown to […]

Editorial: Addressing the Allegations of Sexism in HBO’s The Newsroom
I will be upfront here; I’m a bit out of my element with this post. I watched season 2 of The Newsroom in a vacuum, completely free from all internet chatter be it reviews or tweets. You can read my thoughts on the season itself in this week’s The Week in TV post. In this post, however, I would like […]
