Tony Stark is back and this time he’s taking on the Mandarin. Despite not knowing much about the comic books, I am very much invested in Marvel’s Cinematic Universe. The Avengers was an amazing achievement and one of the best comic book movies ever made. It managed to pay of the five movies’ worth of set up in a spectacular fashion. Now, with a new director at the helm of the franchise, Marvel is bringing back Iron Man for its first post-Avengers movie.
The first Iron Man movie kicked everything off. Jon Favreau and Robert Downey Jr. delivered an experience that wouldn’t be topped, for me, until The Avengers was released last year. I was disappointed with Iron Man 2, though it has grown on me, and I was disappointed when I heard Favreau wasn’t returning to direct the third installment.
Then I saw the trailer and, wow. This looks like it could potentially be better than the first Iron Man movie. Considering it is the third movie in the franchise, I do NOT say that lightly. Adding Ben Kingsley and Guy Pearce to the cast only seals the deal for me. This will be an opening weekend viewing for me. And I will absolutely see it in IMAX.
