Ka is a Wheel – How I Would Adapt The Dark Tower

I’ve kept a detailed outline of how I would adapt Stephen King’s magnum opus, The Dark Tower, since I started reading the second book. Around the time I finished the third book, I started day dreaming about what kind of Dark Tower tattoo I would get. I have no interest in getting a tattoo. But there’s something about this particular […]

The Month in Movies: May 2013

May was a disappointment for me in terms of the amount of movies I watched. It was the first month of 2013 that wasn’t a “record breaker.” My 20 viewings last month barely beat my 19 viewings in May 2012. But the month fell short of 2011’s 22 viewings. I didn’t even get a chance to watch a director’s work […]

Trailer Tuesday: Ender’s Game (2013)

Taking a break from House of Cards (that show is incredible, by the way) to deliver a regrettably late Trailer Tuesday. Just released today is the first trailer for the highly anticipated Ender’s Game. I’ve never read the books but I have friends who have and swear by it. The trailer is replete with special effects and the movie is rounded out by a very impressive cast. 2013 is truly becoming the “year of Sci-Fi” and I love it. Ender’s game is set for a November release. I am going to read the books before I see it. I can’t wait. View the trailer below…

The Month in Movies: April 2013

After consulting my movies watched lists from previous years, I’m happy to announce April 2013 was my best April since I start tracking my viewing habits in 2007. That makes it the 4th consecutive “best month” this year. This time of year I usually get bogged down with TV shows wrapping up and, occasionally, nice weather. Despite that, this year […]

Trailer Tuesday: Pacific Rim (2013)

Pacific Rim (2013) Release Date: July 12th, 2013 Idris Elba, Charlie Day, Charlie Hunnam, Ron Perlman in a Guillermo del Toro movie about humans fighting aliens with giant machines? I’m definitely going to be seeing this one in the theater! I know nothing about this movie. In fact, this is the first trailer I’ve actually watched for it. I have been aware of the […]

Filmography Review: James Cameron Part II

Yesterday I posted the first part of my James Cameron Reassessment. I covered his movies from the sorrowful Piranha Part Two: The Spawning to the impressive, yet preachy, The Abyss. James Cameron in the 1980s was better than I originally gave him credit for. But how does he stack up in the 90s and into the new millennium? Read on […]

Filmography Review: James Cameron Part I

UPDATE: Click here for Part II So far this year, on a whim, I’ve chosen a specific director’s filmography to go through each month. Pre-blog January was my Quentin Tarantino month. February was my Kevin Smith Retrospective. Going into March, however, I decided to go with someone whose work I’ve never really liked. James Cameron. That’s right, I’ve never been a […]
